According to Wikipedia, collective intelligence is shared or group intelligence that emerges from the collaboration, collective efforts and competition of many individuals and appears in consensus decision making.

We are not seeking to reinvent the wheel of intelligence so the people who enable us to draw from existing wisdom in a manner that leads to innovation are our superheroes. These individuals work hand in hand with changemakers and organizations during the innovation process. Their superpowers include (but are not limited to): mastering our innovation tools and methodologies, harnessing collective intelligence and transferring their knowledge in order to empower more “superheroes”.

Collective intelligence is the gift that keeps on giving. Imagine a world where more and more people acquire these capabilities. They would facilitate collaboration between even more individuals and organizations. The outcome would be exponential and the solutions (which would be numerous) would belong to the wider community.
